  • Should I Put My College Education on Hold?

Ok, growing up my brother and I were sexually tortured by his quote-unquote "father". I am currently in state custody for something else and my brother was forced to move in with his "father" at the time. In August, I wrote this extremely long email to my case worker, court-appointed special advocate, and a therapist that child services picked out for me telling about what he did and the effects it had on me and my brother. Then I sent another extremely long email about the biological, physiological, etc. things the sexual torture can do to one's body. No one cared. I posted something on another site, and people told me to go to the cops, but I've also been told cops may not be that helpful either. His "father"'s house in the city right next door to mine, and supposedly that's why social services didn't care, because my brother no longer lives locally. Not only do I need to get my brother out of that house- and keep in mind he is under eighteen- I need to do it most likely alone. And with trying to get him out will come tons of hassle from multiple sides. I just don't know if i can go to college, especially a four year college, and help out my brother right now. On top of that there are no jobs for recent graduates anyway. I figure I just have to get a minimum wage job that makes enough to pay a few survival bills.

Keep reporting it until someone listens. If the children and family services people locally don't listen find an office in the next city/county over. If going to all of the local ones don't work try to contact people at the state level. Just don't give up.

As far as college goes, by the time you are done with college the economy will likely be booming. Don't use today's unemployment numbers from keeping you from doing something with the future.

@MagisterTom - Thanks. I'm surprised it took this long for only one person to comment.

    are you a satanist? why?

  • dopegalore

i'm sorry, i didn't read your entry first. sorry to hear about your troubles.

@dopegalore - Yep, I'm a Satanist. www.churchofsatan.com ...click on "theory/practice" on the left-hand side of the screen. From there, read 9 statements, 9 sins, 11 rules, & pentagonal revisionism. It's not much to read, trust me.

Look for organizations, please call 211 and contact as many hotlines about your situation. Look more up online.

    Organizations may lead you to:
+see your options (the more people you talk to the more solid your steps will be, and the more support you will find!)
-psychologists/people with experience: make yourself understood, it'll be nice. Their support in letter would be much more moving than an email from yourself because 1) Letters are more formal, 2) more than one person believes it, 3)they have experience, 4)politics (it'll be harder to ignore)
    -financial aid
    -legal advice
    -more!

it'll be ok if you are honest and work hard.
how about meditating? it is just knowing what you know rather than what you've learned to think, it's pretty awesome.

@UND0 - Is 211 nationwide? I've looked it up but thought it was only for MO. But that's ok, I live on the MO side of St. Louis. :P ...the therapist child services issued me has done nothing, as far as I know, and I sent her the same email.

I think so: 211.org. Look for more people? she doesn't sound like the most helpful person you'll meet. I also remembered you can also check if they offer free 30 mins with lawyers at the local library.

It really depends on you- What do you want, and what are you going to do to get what you want to feel better? Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6FvURKXTB0

    Best wishes
